About PermitDig
PermitDig makes building permit data accessible. We aggregate public permit records from cities and counties across the United States into one searchable platform.
What we do
Building permits are public records, but they're scattered across thousands of local government websites — each with different formats, search tools, and update schedules. We collect, normalize, and index this data so you can search it all in one place.
Who it's for
- Real estate investors — spot renovation trends, find hot neighborhoods, track construction activity
- Contractors — find homeowners actively spending on their property (warm leads, not cold calls)
- Title companies — instant permit verification for closings
- Insurance underwriters — verify permitted vs unpermitted work
Data sources
All data comes from public government records — city open data portals, county permit search systems, and state databases. We currently cover 17 states and 40+ jurisdictions, with new sources added regularly.
Coverage
NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle, Austin, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Mesa AZ, Norfolk VA, Marin County CA, Corona CA, Kansas City, Tampa, Atlanta, and all of New Jersey — with more cities being added.
